rules
Once they have checked the list of vacancies (called "friendly places"), applicants shall fill in the proper form ("give me 2 sqm") with all information required, namely their personal data, dates of stay and accommodation needs. Furthermore, they are asked to specify the codes of the available solutions they prefer.
Potential hosts will fill in the form (called "I'll give you 2 sqm") with personal data, information on their house and details on the kind of solution they offer, including the compensation they ask for (ranging from 0 to 30 euro).
Here follow an illustrative example:
Step 1: Thomas, a design student from Rotterdam, is looking for accommodation in Milan. On bedsharing.org he fills in the application form and specifies 3 solutions he thinks may meet his needs: a) the Formigoni family; b) the Moratti family; c) the Rossi family.
Step 2: bed sharing forwards his request to the Formigoni family; if they do not accept within the following 24 hours, the request is submitted to the Moratti family, and if necessary to the Rossi family.
Step 3: The Rossi family decides to host the young designer and informs the bed sharing team which send a confirmation to Thomas.
Step 4: bed sharing helps Thomas contact the Rossi family by transmitting their personal data, e-mail address and telephone number, so that they can get to know each other before Thomas comes to Milan.
